On Tap: Chasing Fire by Nora Roberts

Chasing Fire I have been reading reviews on Goodreads and have found some vastly different opinions about Nora Roberts latest effort. I see ratings of 5 stars and 3 stars...seems people love it or are just on the fence about it.  I'm gonna read it anyway just because I love Robert's work.  Very rarely have I skipped one of her releases and I often find myself going back for the ones that I have left unfinished.

  1. This story is a full out action/adventure/suspense with a romance (or two) running through it to give it heart. I have no idea how accurate the smoke jumping details are, but the lifestyle is certainly convincingly portrayed. I suspect Ms. Roberts has done her homework in this area. Though there is a human villain in the story, the more compelling story is the love/hate relationship the smoke jumpers have with the vividly described wild fires they fight on a daily basis. I felt like I was right beside them. The romantic relationship between Rowan and Gull was sweet and funny and developed realistically. The relationship between Rowan and her father was particularly touching. Being raised by a single parent myself, I could relate well. I have read nearly all of Nora Robert's books and all of the J.D. Robb series.
